Stage II - Primary Performance Package
Stage II picks up where Stage I leaves off, and brings a moderate power increase and suspension upgrades to the table. It includes the wheel-and-tire and appearance packages from Stage I, while a retuned ECU, an improved braking system and the suspension are upgraded. Included is a reflash of the computer and a new intercooler duct to add approximately 33 horsepower. When we studied the stock WRX suspension system, we noticed it works perfectly for around-town driving, but at the limit it tends to induce copious understeer, as well as body roll. Body roll is addressed through the use of adjustable tubular swaybars and new rear swaybar endlinks. Performance springs which lower the car approximately one inch, and adjustable dampers front and rear tighten up the suspension package. Finally, to cope with the added horsepower and higher corner speeds, brake pads and brake fluid is upgraded. Braided brake lines allow for better pedal modulation, as well an overall better feel through the brake pedal.
